Health Official Resigns (New York Times)(Pregnancy News)

Eric Keroack, the head of the federal agency responsible for providing women with access to contraceptives and pregnancy counseling, resigned after Medicaid officials took action against him in Massachusetts. The Health and Human Services Department provided no details about the action. Keroack was chosen five months ago by President Bush to oversee the department’s Office of Population Affairs and its $283 million annual budget. His selection angered abortion rights groups because he had worked for an organization that opposes contraception. Massachusetts Medicaid officials did not return calls for comment. read more
