(Pregnancy News) S.C. Campaign to Prevent Teen Pregnancy takes to the road (The Times and Democrat)

In South Carolina great progress has been made reducing rates of teen pregnancy, nearly 40% since 1990. In an effort to inform South Carolina communities of the success that has been achieved and ensure that we all understand the importance of continuing to invest in the youth of South Carolina, the SC Campaign has organized its first ever Road Show during the month of May. Staff of the SC Campaign will travel the state to celebrate the work and dedication of local providers doing great things throughout South Carolina. During the Road Show, the SC Campaign will visit 21 counties and hold 40 events over a two-week time period (May 12-23). More than 1,500 miles will be traveled and more than 1,500 people will be directly impacted in addition to the thousands of South Carolinians who will be reached through various media outlets. Study links pre-pregnancy weight to risk of developing gestational diabetes - Pravda. A new study suggests that pre-pregnancy weight is directly linked to the risk of developing gestational diabetes . Gestational diabetes is a condition in which women without previously diagnosed diabetes exhibit high blood glucose levels during pregnancy. Scientists tracked down weight changes for 5 years prior to pregnancy using medical records of multiethnic women enrolled in a prepaid health plan in northern California. read more
